Performance Monitoring and Impact Analysis Tool for USAID

Between July 2011 and January 2012 I was contracted by USAID to help their mission in Iraq develop a Performance Monitoring and Impact Analysis tool. As is increasingly often the case, they were faced with the option to license an expensive proprietary system or to follow waves of others and to give open source a try. I helped the mission design and develop the IMS Prototype captured in the attached screenshots using Drupal 7 and several Google APIs.

Election Results with Maps and Charts on Drupal CMS

While on contract with the UN, I created the results site for Wolesi Jirga and Provincial Council elections in Afghanistan.

That was before I delved into Drupal in any depth. Having after-the-fact realized how powerful Drupal was, having been in possession of the public election data, and wanting to prove a concept — I decided to redo things how I would do them now.

NGO/Project/Field Office Website

In 2009 I created this Drupal site to demonstrate the types of fully sustainable content management systems that I develop by blending the latest innovations in information technologies with effective use of Web2.0 design sensibilities (again, this was 2009 so 2.0 was all the buzz.)

The fully functional online version can be found at http://tatweer.gohernandez.com.

For a quick introduction to this project, view the video below:

Format Drupal 7's Head Output

The formatting of the head tags (meta, keywords, author, scripts, icons, etc.) Drupal 7 outputs by default leave lots to be desired vis-a-vis output formatting.

Cleaning it up is actually much simpler thank you think. You simply need to create a formatting function that uses the PHP's preg_replace() function to handle your output.

One of my favs

I've recently added one of my favorite projects to my project spotlight. This is a sustainable, Drupal-based elections support website that integrates with Google Maps and the Google Chart APIs. See site here.

Drupal with Google Maps

I created this site to demonstrate the power of going open source.

This is a Drupal implementation that integrates with Google Maps using a freely available module. The rest of the site is a demonstration of several modern best-practices in web design.

Note: This site was completed in 2010 using Drupal 6.

You can see the solution here.

New Corporate Identity

I developed this corporate identity for Mission Ready Systems, a technical and creative outlet of mine.

The images herein are jpegs of the proof ready hi-res PDFs I deliver to printers. I have many years of exposure to printing and publishing through family businesses and summer work as a student.

Observer Registration Site

I developed this observer registration solution for INEC1, the Nigerian election commission, while I was advising INEC on a USAID2 funded technical assistance project that was being executed by IFES3 during 2007.

  • 2. USAID — United States Agency for International Development
  • 3. IFES — International Foundation for Election Services
